Greenspace CEP

The project’s mission statement was:

“To assist and promote local communities’ interest, care and action for Hampshire’s environment and to widen understanding of environmental isses”

At the time, there was enlightened self-interest for local authorities to fund volunteer community groups in improving neglected areas of Hampshire’s urban fringe.  This produced a wide range of schemes from pond restoration to hedge laying to coppicing, supported by Greenspace CEP officers both on site and through training and group development:

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust now supports similar work, but here is a list of some community projects supported in 1992/3, organised by district:
