Haltwhistle

A one-week project to improve the profile of this town along the march of Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland.

Haltwhistle was the focus of a UK / North America Exchange project in Autumn 2003, organised by CEI Associates Ltd under contract to a steering group of Government agencies chaired by the then Countryside Agency. 

Three experts from the UK and three from North America spent a week in the Northumberland town of Haltwhistle looking at what changes would be necessary to the town to enable it to become a tourist centre for the locality.  This was a great opportunity to bring together expertise from places as far apart as Chicago and Cornwall, and a number of recommendations were made:
